Bandit's story

Bandit is a very handsome 1 year-old Border Collie mix male who was one of 6 dogs who were surrendered to an overcrowded county dog shelter by their owner. The dogs were all under-socialized with people and were very frightened at the shelter. Bandit was the only one who came into the shelter with a name and was the most comfortable around new people. Given that they were so shy, the shelter searched for rescues for these dogs to allow them to relax in foster homes while they searched for new homes. Bandit came to Canine Lifeline and has been a really good boy since his arrival. He seems to be very comfortable meeting new people and does like to gently jump on people to give them a hug. Hes very affectionate and eagerly soaks up all of the attention he can get from his human pals. Bandit does well with other dogs but can be easily overwhelmed when around many new dogs at one time. He might be fine in a new home as the only dog provided that his family has plenty of time to spend with him. He would probably also enjoy having one canine pal who is on the calm and quiet side as rowdy dogs dont seem to be his cup of tea. Bandit has done very well with crate-training in his foster home so should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. He is still working on his leash skills but with some daily practice in his new home, he should soon be walking like a pro. Bandit weighs about 45 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. Hes neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure its a great match before the adoption is finalized.
