Huckleberry Beagle Adult Male in Cleveland, Ohio

My story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit /adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.

Huckleberry is a 1.5 year-old All-American mutt and one silly dog who looks like he came to life out of a cartoon! He came into an overcrowded county dog shelter as a stray so we have no history on him or any information as to his true breed mix. The shelter called him a Beagle mix and while he may have some Beagle in his DNA, he’s a true mixed-up mutt. This funny boy has a long body and short little legs with a head that looks too large for his body! Huckleberry is a very friendly and outgoing dog who has likely been allowed to do whatever he wants in his life to date. He is going to need some training in canine good manners along with some boundaries in his new home as he adjusts to his new life. Huckleberry gets along very well with other dogs so would likely benefit from having a canine buddy to show him the ropes in his new home. He loves to play but can be very mouthy with people so needs to learn that playing roughly with humans is not acceptable behavior. He would likely be overwhelming for younger kids. Huckleberry loves to go for a walk and is learning to temper his enthusiasm and improve his leash manners on his walks. He has had excellent crate manners in his foster home and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. This silly dog is sure to turn a lot of heads when he’s out for a walk with people wondering—what kind of dog IS that? If you’ve got the time and energy to work with an active young dog, Huckleberry would love to meet you! Huckleberry weighs about 30 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Huckleberry. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at to see more photos of Huckleberry and to submit an online application.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Huckleberry, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
