We need to re-home Smyley and only to the perfect home for her. We will manage keeping her separated from our other dogs until we find the right match for her.
Smyley came from a very unfortunate start in life. She was bought as a puppy to be a hunting dog. She was gun shy so her owner found her useless and treated her as such and even worse. She was seriously abused by the owner being beaten, thrown around by her ears and even the children would beat on her, throw rocks at her and beat her with stick until the stick broke. After 5 or more years of this abuse (never seeing the inside of a home), kept outside on a chain and freezing in the winter with nothing more than a shabby broken down plywood dog house. She was found, literally frozen to the ground. After she was pried up and taken away from this awful family she went into a home with somewhat hostile environment. She never really new what a loving hand was until she came to live with us a year ago. She was scared to death to be touched on the ears and she cannot handle voices being raise without cowering away. I have been working with her on this and now we can stoke those ears with a loving hand and she really enjoys it
She has been in dog fight after dog fight with the sister (not related) that grew up with her after being taken away from this family. While this other dog was giving birth to pups, she attacked her while pushing out a pup. There has been a lot of hatred between these two girls for a while now and we just don't know what may trigger them into another fight.
Recently,  we had to take her into the vet to get surgery on her leg from one of these dog fights. She needed her ligaments, tendons and torn skin repaired. After a couple of weeks and stitches out we tried to reintroduce the girls. It went very bad in just seconds of them seeing each other, luckily no emergency visit for it, just a bad bite to her face from the other dog. Smyley is a very sweet dog with humans. She loves to meet new people but should be an only dog. Children are NOT recommended, because of her prior abuse from them. We don't know how she would act around them since she's never been around children from that point.
She does not understand how to share toys or food and we never know what may set her off when around the other dogs. This is not her fault. This was the fault of the human that destroyed her.
She is a mix breed (Beagle/possibly Shepherd) around 8-9 years old, 65 lbs, spayed, shots and in need of a person that can understand where she came from and what she has already suffered in life. I can give further details to whom ever may be interested in being the right fit for her. She really is a sweet girl that just needs to be an only dog that can play in her yard and with her toys and live out a happy life. We love her dearly but our other dogs get along and she cant seem to fit in with any of them. We are seeking a home for her to keep her safe from anymore damage caused to her..We love her very much and want the very best for her.  She cant continue living a life with so much stress coming her way.
